About the project
Bringing Generations Together is an eTwinning project that aims at getting to know the elder generations and countries and developing tolerance across generations and cultures. Its purpose is to make the students understand that despite the cultural and personal differences people are so similar. It will bring people from different generations and countries together.
This project had a great impact both on students and on grandparents involved. On the former because students had never thought that their grandparents’ life was so different from theirs in so many ways (school, entertainment, relationships), and so similar in some other ways (fashion, mood) and the latter because nowadays grandparents don’t have many opportunities to communicate with their grandchildren. It managed to bring two generations closer by building bridges between them - by learning about generations, about the grandparents in the project, by meeting new people and peers from different countries and different walks of life, by having fun - making up incredible stories with grandparents involved and many other activities that the project suggested. The project was indeed a bridge between two different generations and across cultures.
Through this project the schools involved had made great connections with 8 schools in Europe - Austria, Greece, Serbia, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Belgium. Our students have interacted to perform the activities and learn together. They have learnt about different school systems, countries, people and ages. They have learnt how to bridge the generation gap and how to bring together not only two generations but different countries by means of communication technologies.
In this way the project was enlightening in terms of knowledge and warm in terms of building relationships and building bridges between generations and countries.
